Danny & Rebecca Valenzuela
Danny and Rebecca (Becky) Valenzuela are native Arizonans and longtime education advocates.
Danny is a former Dougherty Foundation board member having served 11 years on the board. He began his college career at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, AZ and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business at Arizona State University (ASU).
His leadership positions have included serving as a City Manager, Deputy Director at the Arizona Department of Administration and AZ Department of Health Services. In the non-profit sector he has served as CEO of the Arizona Community Action Association, and Assistant Director at Chicanos Por la Causa. He has also owned several businesses, including a management consultant company, and import-export company, a real estate and appraisal company and for 16 years until his retirement he owned an Executive, Team and Leadership Coaching Company.
Rebecca began her college career at Northern AZ University and later enrolled at Phoenix College where she was also an employee. After completion of an Associate of Arts degree, she transferred to ASU. She completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Studies at ASU in 1997, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Northern AZ University in 2000 and a Master’ s degree in English as a Second Language from ASU in 2005. She retired from Phoenix College in 2013 after serving students for 22 years in the office of Recruitment and Retention and as an ESL adjunct faculty.
